Katy Perry Named in Australian Police Probe Over Historical Allegation

Katy Perry has become the subject of a police investigation in Australia following an allegation made by Ruby Rose concerning an incident that reportedly took place in Melbourne nearly two decades ago. Victoria Police confirmed that detectives from their Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are looking into a sexual assault claim from 2010 at a licensed venue in Melbourne’s central business district.

Although the police did not disclose any names in their official statement, multiple media outlets have linked the investigation to a complaint filed by Rose. This marks a significant development as the case moves from public social media discourse into a formal legal inquiry.

Ruby Rose, aged 40, has announced that she has completed all necessary reports and will refrain from making further public comments while the investigation is underway. In a social media post, she explained that the request for silence is a standard part of the process and emphasized that this step is crucial for her healing journey. Rose has previously shared that it took her several years to come forward about the alleged incident during a night out in Melbourne.

Meanwhile, a representative for Katy Perry has strongly denied the accusation, labeling it as “categorically false” and describing the claims as “dangerous, reckless lies.” The statement also referenced Rose’s history of making serious allegations on social media that have been denied by the accused parties. Perry herself has not issued any personal remarks beyond the statement from her representative.

Victoria Police have stated that providing further details would be inappropriate while the investigation continues. The case has now officially transitioned from social media allegations to a formal police procedure, with authorities expected to decide on subsequent actions based on their findings.

As the inquiry progresses, the contrasting positions of the allegation and the denial remain at the forefront of a case that has attracted significant attention online and in the media.
