Questions
What is the difference between buying and selling rate?
The buying rate is what an exchange company pays you when you sell foreign currency to it. The selling rate is what you pay when you buy foreign currency from it. The gap between the two is the dealer's margin. This converter uses the buying rate when you convert foreign currency into rupees and the selling rate when you convert rupees into foreign currency.
Open market vs interbank rate โ which one applies to me?
Open-market rates (published by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan) apply to cash bought or sold at exchange companies. The interbank rate is the rate at which banks trade with each other; bank transfers, remittances and card payments are usually based on it, plus the bank's own charges.
How often are these rates updated?
Open-market rates are updated every working day. Interbank (mid-market) rates are refreshed twice a day. The time of the last update is shown on the converter. Banks and exchange companies may quote slightly different rates.
