Elon Musk, President Donald Trump’s multi-billionaire ally, has threatened Democrats who want to investigate alleged corruption and his role in the US government if they win control of Congress next month. Writing on X, the social media platform he owns, Musk said “Live by the sword, die by the sword” in response to a report on Democrats’ plans to probe his activities after the midterm elections.
Musk added that those who pick fights with him “should understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come for them, not just their puppets.” The report noted that he regularly uses the platform to promote conspiracy theories.
Musk’s ties to Trump and federal contracts
Musk is described as the United States’ first trillionaire and a top financial donor to Trump’s Republican Party. He is also a frequent adviser to the president and a major recipient of government contracts through his SpaceX empire. After helping bankroll Trump’s return to power, he ran a controversial project to slash federal spending that pushed nearly 300,000 employees out of work.

Democrats poised to gain House probe powers
Republicans currently control the Senate and House of Representatives, but Democrats are forecast to win the lower chamber in elections on November 3. That would give them powerful investigative committees with the power to compel testimony, making Musk a prime target.
Zoe Lofgren, an influential Democrat, was quoted in the report as saying, “The sheer number of conflicts of interest are astounding.”
