The mother of 15-year-old Waseem Abbas has asked to see footage showing how the man accused of killing her son died. In a video shared on social media, she said she could not rest until she had seen it personally. Her appeal came after the Crime Control Department (CCD) said suspect Tauqeer Nazir was shot dead in an alleged encounter in Bahawalpur on Wednesday.
Waseem was allegedly run over and killed in Multan, and Tauqeer was described by the CCD as the principal suspect in his death. The department’s account of Tauqeer’s reported escape and killing has raised questions that remain unanswered.
Mother questions reported death of suspect Tauqeer Nazir
In the video, the grieving mother repeatedly demanded footage of Tauqeer’s death and asked whether he had truly died. “What if they are lying to us that he died?” she said. She also asked to be shown the suspect himself, and drew a comparison between her son’s final moments and the circumstances of the suspect’s reported death.

She said Tauqeer had made her child suffer before killing him, and she wanted to see for herself how he had struggled and died. Her emotional appeal has added to public attention on the case.

CCD says suspect was killed after Bahawalpur escape
A CCD official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Tauqeer had slipped out of the department’s custody on Tuesday night. According to the official, a CCD team in Bahawalpur later tried to stop two men on a motorcycle. The riders allegedly opened fire, which led to an exchange of gunfire.
The department said one of the riders was killed and was later identified as Tauqeer, while his alleged accomplice escaped. The circumstances of Tauqeer’s reported escape from custody and his death have not been fully detailed publicly.
Police case and post-mortem findings in Waseem’s death
Waseem, an orphaned teenager living at a private orphanage, was allegedly run over by a car in a private housing society in Multan. Police registered a murder case against Tauqeer and another suspect, Amjad Ali, alleging that the vehicle was deliberately driven into the teenager.
According to the first information report (FIR), registered at DHA Police Station on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Liaquat Ali, the car struck Waseem and his head hit a house pillar, causing fatal injuries. The FIR also alleged that the suspects tried to flee when the vehicle would not restart. An eyewitness reportedly detained Tauqeer at the scene, while the second suspect got away.
Tauqeer gave a different version in a video that later circulated online. He claimed Waseem had run off from his workplace after ignoring his instructor, and said the vehicle slipped while they were trying to block the teenager’s path. The police FIR, however, treated the incident as an intentional killing.
A post-mortem report documented severe injuries. According to the report, the body was brought to Nishtar Hospital at around 8:30pm for examination, and it recorded:
- a badly disfigured face
- deep injuries to the left side of the head and face
- fractures to the skull, jaw and nasal bone
- abrasions on the right knee
The administration of the orphanage said Waseem had recently been sent to learn electrical work under contractor Tauqeer. His cousin Nadeem, who also lived at the orphanage, said Waseem had been reluctant to go and wanted to return home. Nadeem added that Waseem had stopped coming back regularly to the orphanage after starting the work. The family has demanded justice and accountability for the teenager’s death.
