Gold prices in Pakistan experienced a notable decline on Saturday, with the cost of one tola dropping by Rs15,100. This sharp decrease came in response to a steep fall in international gold rates, reflecting the close connection between global and local bullion markets.
The All Pakistan Sarafa Association reported that the price of one tola of gold fell to Rs467,936 from its previous level. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold also saw a reduction, falling by Rs12,946 to reach Rs401,179. Silver prices were not immune to this trend, with the cost of one tola decreasing by Rs397 to settle at Rs7,112.
On the international front, gold prices dropped by $151 per ounce, settling at $4,454. This marked a significant movement following a period of stability, as prices had remained unchanged on Friday. The fluctuations in global gold rates are influenced by various factors including changes in the US dollar value, investor sentiment, and expectations regarding interest rate adjustments.
Domestic bullion prices in Pakistan tend to respond swiftly to these international shifts. Sarafa dealers highlighted that if the downward trend in global gold prices continues, it could exert further pressure on local rates. However, they also warned that any resurgence of economic or political instability might reverse this trend, potentially driving gold prices higher once again.
