A traffic jam on the national highway between Kandiaro and Naushahro Feroze has lasted about 10 hours, with ambulances trapped among other vehicles.
Heavy goods vehicles, passenger buses and other commuters are stuck on a stretch of around 30 kilometres on the road leading to Karachi. The lane towards Punjab is packed for 10 kilometres. Long queues include ambulances carrying patients who have been stranded for several hours.
Motorway police absent as trailers block the road
Motorway police were not seen at the scene to clear the congestion. Meanwhile, trailers on the under-construction section of the highway met face to face, blocking the road completely.
Two-year construction project causing repeated disruption
The highway section has been under construction for two years and has become a cause of road accidents and routine traffic jams.
