Update · 1 Nov 2026, 8:05 PM PKT: Medics and the Hamas-run interior ministry put the death toll at at least eight, while earlier figures had said at least nine. The Israeli military said it struck several militants in Khan Younis and did not immediately comment on the Gaza City strike.

Hamas denied trying to carry out attacks or rebuild its arsenal, and accused Israel of undermining the Gaza peace deal. Israel says four of its soldiers have been killed since the ceasefire. Israeli forces control about two-thirds of the territory, where they have ordered residents out, while nearly all of the more than 2 million residents live in the remaining third.

Update · 1 Nov 2026, 7:50 PM PKT: The death toll from Israeli attacks across Gaza on Sunday has risen to at least nine people. Hospital sources had earlier put the toll at at least eight.

Hospital sources in Gaza say Israeli military attacks have killed at least eight Palestinians. The deaths occurred in several strikes across the territory on Sunday.

Drone strikes hit al-Mawasi and Gaza City

An Israeli drone attack killed five people and wounded several others in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza. Gaza’s Ministry of Interior said Israeli forces had targeted police officers who were carrying out their duties. The Israeli army told a news agency that it was targeting “a terrorist” in southern Gaza.

In northern Gaza, hospital sources at al-Shifa Hospital said a drone strike on Gaza City’s Rimal neighbourhood killed at least three Palestinians, including a four-year-old boy. The Taj Mall was also targeted. A further person died on Sunday from wounds sustained in an earlier attack.

Hamas condemns attacks as war crimes

Hamas called the latest Israeli attacks a “deliberate war crime”. In a statement, it denounced a “horrific massacre” that targeted a group of police officers, as well as the bombardment of Gaza City.

The group said the repeated targeting of officers was part of an attempt to obstruct recovery efforts, undermine stability and sow chaos in the Gaza Strip. It also accused international silence of emboldening what it called the occupation.

Ceasefire strains and rising death toll

Israeli forces continue to attack Gaza despite a US-brokered ceasefire that took effect last October. More than 1,500 people have been killed since then.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, at least 74,594 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its war in October 2023, in response to the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel.
