The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) announced on Sunday that electricity would be suspended on a limited number of feeders on Tuesday. The utility said the shutdowns were needed because of ongoing development work being carried out by the district government.

The cuts will affect several circles, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal. Outages in most areas will run from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, though some feeders face longer or shorter windows, according to IESCO’s spokesperson.

In Islamabad Circle, supply will be cut from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in areas including Banigala, G-6, the Sports Complex, F-7/1, Iqbal Town, G-9/1 and I-8/2. The spokesperson listed dozens of other feeders in the circle, from Khanna East to Faisal Masjid and Ayub Market.

Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal circles face staggered hours

In Attock Circle, the Khan Abad feeder will be off from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM, while a longer list of feeders, including Ghazi Kohli, Faisal Hills-1, Wapda Town and Gaggan, will face cuts from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Jhelum Circle has a 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM suspension covering areas such as F-5 (JADA), CMH Jhelum, F.10 (Kala Base) and Dina.1 (Bakrala). In Chakwal Circle, most feeders will be off from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, while the PAF and Istaqlal Camp feeders will lose power from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

IESCO said the GSO circles, including feeders in Dheer Kot, Chaman Kot, Dahla and Rangla, will have no electricity from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Development works behind the power shutdowns

IESCO said the outages were necessary to allow timely completion of development projects. These include the construction of flyovers and underpasses, the laying of new 11kV feeders, road widening and other related works.

The company said it had expressed regret to its customers for the temporary disruption. Full shutdown schedules have been posted on its official website, www.iesco.com.pk, and on its Facebook page (IESCO Updates) and its Twitter/X account (IESCO Official Pk).
