Iran Calls Its US Proposal Legitimate and Generous Amid Tensions

On Monday, Iran characterized its recent proposal aimed at ending hostilities with the United States and reopening the Strait of Hormuz as a fair and constructive initiative. Tehran accused Washington of maintaining unreasonable demands and continuing economic pressure despite the offer.

During a media briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei outlined Tehran’s main conditions, which include an end to the conflict, lifting US sanctions and restrictions, and the release of Iranian assets frozen abroad due to American pressure. He emphasized that the proposal also focuses on securing safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and promoting stability across the broader region, including Lebanon, as part of Iran’s comprehensive regional security plan.

Meanwhile, China strongly condemned recent US sanctions targeting three Chinese companies accused by Washington of supporting Iran’s military activities. Beijing denounced these measures as unilateral and illegal.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that Chinese businesses are expected to operate within legal boundaries and affirmed that Beijing will safeguard the legitimate interests of its companies. He further stressed that the immediate priority should be to prevent any further escalation of conflict rather than implicating other nations or using the situation to level accusations.
