Six terrorists were killed and two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said security forces acted in the Zarkani area after reports of the presence of Fitna al-Khawarij. The ISPR described the target as a hideout of Indian-sponsored terrorists.
Two soldiers killed in intense firefight
The statement named Naik Ghulam Murtaza, 36, from Gujrat, and Sepoy Taseer Ahmed, 30, from Talagang. It said both fought bravely during an intense exchange of fire and embraced martyrdom.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, according to the ISPR. The military said they had been involved in multiple attacks on security forces and law enforcement, as well as the killing of innocent civilians.
Clearance operation and wider counterterrorism campaign
A sanitisation operation is underway to eliminate any remaining khawarij, the statement added. The ISPR said security forces would continue their campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism.
The sacrifices of the soldiers, it added, further strengthen the nation’s resolve to eradicate terrorism.
