Update · 26 Oct 2026, 12:36 PM PKT: The Lahore High Court disposed of Shahrez Khan's petition after reviewing the home secretary's submission.
Punjab's government lawyer told the court that the sisters' detention was extended on October 7.
The court observed that the deputy commissioner had issued the detention notification, but the petitioner had not made that official a party to the case.
Punjab authorities have prolonged the custody of Imran Khan’s sisters by another 30 days, a government lawyer told the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday. The three women, Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, were held ahead of PTI’s planned nationwide protests.
The lawyer, Farukh Lodhi, submitted a report compiled by the Punjab home secretary while the court heard a petition seeking the women’s recovery. According to the document, the deputy commissioner recommended the extra 30 days once the earlier period had run out, and the provincial government approved that proposal.
Provincial approval of the detention extension
The Punjab home secretary and the superintendent of Kot Lakhpat Jail appeared before the court, complying with its earlier order that had called them to attend in person. The court was already considering the petition when the government filed its report confirming the extension.

Lodhi told the court that the deputy commissioner had made the recommendation, which the provincial government then endorsed.
Petition challenging the detention of three women
The petition was filed by Shahrez Khan, the son of Aleema Khan, who is challenging the detention of the three sisters. At an earlier hearing, his counsel argued that the detention orders for the women had expired on October 19 and 20, and asked the court to order their recovery and production before it.
Aleema Khan was detained in Lahore in September under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance. Her sisters, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, were held the following day under the same provision.
The detentions came before PTI’s planned nationwide protests, which included a long march towards Islamabad on September 27. The party aimed to press for Imran Khan’s release and the supremacy of the Constitution.
