In a tragic incident in the Bara Gali area of Abbottabad, two young men lost their lives after falling into a waterfall. One of the victims has been identified as Rizwan, a local resident of Bara Gali, who drowned while bathing at the Jandar Bari Waterfall.
Initial information reveals that Rizwan slipped into deep water while swimming, leading to the fatal accident. Rescue operations are currently underway, involving local volunteers alongside Rescue 1122 teams from both Galiyat and Abbottabad. Efforts to recover the body continue amidst challenging conditions.
Community members have actively joined the search and rescue mission at the site, demonstrating solidarity in the face of this tragedy. This incident once again underscores the frequent dangers faced in the Hazara region during the monsoon season.
Authorities have emphasized that despite official prohibitions on swimming and bathing in hazardous locations like waterfalls, streams, ponds, and lakes, many people continue to ignore these warnings. Each year, numerous lives are lost due to strong currents and sudden rises in water levels.
Officials have consistently urged the public to adhere to safety regulations, cautioning that disregard for these bans results in preventable fatalities annually. The ongoing tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the risks posed by natural water bodies during the rainy season.
