Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has urged Pakistanis to place the country above political loyalties. Speaking at a ceremony in Lahore, he said people who hold public office carry a heavy responsibility and must remain answerable to the public.
Naqvi said there is considerable discussion about expanding Pakistan’s IT companies. He recalled working for an American firm whose staff were expected to labour intensely, and said building a similar work routine in Pakistan would take two to three years, possibly requiring employees to stay awake at night.
Youth opportunities and the role of overseas Pakistanis
Naqvi said opportunities for young people were central to Pakistan’s promising future. He noted that the government had given substantial backing to the IT sector over the past two to three years. He added that young people must deliver for the country, while overseas Pakistanis should also contribute to their homeland.
