After a remarkable nine-year tenure at Liverpool FC, Mohamed Salah has confirmed that the 2025–26 season will be his last at Anfield. This joint announcement with the club signals the conclusion of one of the Premier League’s most extraordinary chapters.

Despite having a contract extending until 2027, both Salah and Liverpool have mutually agreed that now is the appropriate moment to part ways. The club emphasized the decision as a mutual one, underscoring the mutual respect and admiration between the player and the organization.

Salah, originally from Egypt, expressed his wish to be transparent with his supporters, ensuring they were informed of his intentions before the season’s end. Since joining Liverpool in 2017, he has been instrumental in reshaping the club’s legacy.

Throughout his nine years, Salah has scored an impressive 256 goals in 389 appearances across all competitions. His tally includes 164 goals in the Premier League, 50 in the UEFA Champions League, and 42 in domestic cup matches.

His career at Liverpool has been marked by record-breaking seasons, including 32 Premier League goals in the 2017–18 season and 44 across all competitions that year. The following season, 2018–19, saw him net 27 league goals and 34 overall. In 2021–22, he scored 31 goals in all competitions.

Salah’s goals often arrived at crucial moments, frequently turning the tide in Liverpool’s favor during league title races, Champions League campaigns, domestic cup runs, and community shield matches. Fans will particularly remember his decisive strikes against top rivals such as Manchester United and Arsenal, which helped define Liverpool’s modern era.

In recent seasons, Salah has faced challenges including fluctuating playing time and tactical changes under manager Arne Slot, reflecting both his evolution and that of the team. Nevertheless, he has continued to contribute vital goals this season.

His early announcement demonstrates his profound respect for Liverpool’s fanbase. Salah stated on social media that supporters deserved to know his plans before the season concluded.

As for his future, Salah’s next club remains unknown, sparking widespread speculation about where the Egyptian forward will showcase his talents next.

From his debut in 2017 to his record-breaking exploits, Salah has become a true icon at Liverpool FC. His scoring prowess, leadership, and commitment have left a lasting impact on the club, inspiring fans and players alike.

As Liverpool prepares to say goodbye to one of its greatest players, Salah’s words resonate deeply: “It’s the right time to close this chapter, but the memories will last forever.”
