Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar recorded the highest number of gifts, 19, in newly released Toshakhana records published by the Cabinet Division in Islamabad. The records cover gifts received between July 28 and September 9, 2026, by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other senior government officials.

According to the released details, the gifts are still being valued, and every item listed has been handed over to the Cabinet Division. The prime minister received 10 gifts during the period, while the president received seven. Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi received five.

Gifts received by the prime minister and president

Shehbaz Sharif received 1,000 grams of fine gold from Kyrgyzstan, along with a framed car model. His other items included a decorative piece from Belarus, a model of the Bangladesh Supreme Court and perfumes.

President Zardari’s gifts included musical instruments, an archery set, a framed depiction of Faisal Mosque and a chess set.

Items received by Dar and other ministers

Dar received an SCO commemorative medal, cufflinks, a painting and Arabian Rose perfume, among other things. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb received an H-tab 1Pro tablet, while Information Minister Attaullah Tarar received perfume and a bag of coffee.

Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Tarar and Minister of State for Law Aqeel Malik each received two gifts, and diplomat Dr Zafar Iqbal received one. Abbasi’s gifts included a silverware set, a chess set and a tea set, which were later deposited with the Cabinet Division.

Rules governing Toshakhana gifts

The release follows the government’s periodic publication of Toshakhana records on gifts received by public office holders. The division’s website also carries the Toshakhana (Management and Regulation) Rules, 2026, which the Cabinet Division issued on September 22.

Under the new framework, public office holders other than the president and prime minister are discouraged from accepting gifts given in their official capacity. Unavoidable gifts must be deposited in the state repository.
