Earlier van fire near Kahjoot on Murree Expressway
The incident follows a June 2026 crash in which 10 people were killed and eight others injured when a passenger van carrying tourists caught fire near Kahjoot on Murree Expressway.
Murree District Police Officer Dr Muhammad Raza said the van lost control due to overspeeding and hit a roadside safety barrier. The impact ruptured the fuel tank, and leaking petrol set the vehicle alight within seconds. He said the force of the collision left passengers no time to escape.
Authorities said the eight injured people from that incident were taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad for treatment.
