The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has handed primary decision-making authority to its parliamentary party, bypassing its political and core committees, according to sources.
Sources said the move followed setbacks, including the loss of the party’s government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), which they linked to earlier decisions made by the political and core committees. Under the new directive, all major policy decisions will be made exclusively by elected members of parliament.
Opposition leaders to head parliamentary group
The parliamentary group will be led by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate. Sources added that the party will no longer wait for the KP provincial leadership’s “Plans B and C.”

The parliamentary party is scheduled to map out PTI’s next strategic roadmap at its meeting on Tuesday, October 27. Sources said vital decisions are expected on steps to secure access to jailed PTI founder Imran Khan and address matters concerning his medical treatment.
The session is also expected to push for the release of detained female party leaders.
