The main ceremony commemorating “Marka-e-Haq” took place at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, bringing together senior civil and military leaders to pay tribute to the armed forces. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and other high-ranking officials attended the event, which also saw the presence of foreign diplomats.

The event commenced with the national anthem, followed by a guard of honour presented by the armed forces. A moment of silence lasting one minute was observed to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

In their addresses, the leadership lauded the military for what they termed a historic victory over India, emphasizing the professionalism, courage, and sacrifices demonstrated by Pakistan’s armed forces in defending the country’s sovereignty. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the decisive response of the military to aggression, underscoring their role in upholding national integrity with valor.

Notably, the Prime Minister also revealed that Pakistan has received Iran’s response to the United States’ proposed peace initiative aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict. He described this as a significant diplomatic development, with Islamabad playing a mediating role between Tehran and Washington. This exchange forms part of wider negotiations intended to achieve a ceasefire and establish the foundation for a lasting peace agreement.

Paying homage to the martyrs, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to remembering their sacrifices. The ceremony proceeded with further tributes and speeches that reflected on the importance of “Marka-e-Haq,” reinforcing Pakistan’s dedication to honoring its armed forces despite the severe weather conditions prevailing in Islamabad during the event.
