ISLAMABAD: Twenty-two crew members of the Iranian container ship MV Tosca have been transferred to Pakistan as part of ongoing diplomatic coordination among involved parties, the Foreign Office confirmed on Monday.

The crew was flown to Pakistan last night after being relocated from the vessel following its recent detention. Officials stated that the personnel are scheduled to be handed over to Iranian authorities later today.

The ship itself is expected to be returned to its owners once necessary repairs are completed. The Foreign Office highlighted that the entire process is being conducted through mutual cooperation and continuous dialogue between the concerned sides.

This arrangement forms part of broader confidence-building measures aimed at enhancing regional stability and ensuring maritime safety. Pakistani authorities welcomed these steps, emphasizing their role in fostering trust and diplomatic engagement.

Islamabad reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating dialogue and diplomacy among relevant stakeholders whenever needed. The situation arose after the vessel was reportedly seized by US authorities in recent days, triggering diplomatic exchanges involving multiple countries to resolve the issue.

While operational details were not disclosed, officials confirmed that all actions taken have been coordinated and peaceful, focusing on the safe transfer of crew members and the eventual return of the ship.

Pakistan reiterated its dedication to supporting diplomatic channels and constructive engagement in addressing international maritime challenges.
