Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 adds dual-wielding and mod support

CD Projekt Red has released patch notes for Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5, which the studio calls the Edgerunners 2 Update. The release follows its recent visual overhaul of The Witcher 3 and arrives as Netflix makes all ten episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 available. The series premiered on October 20.

The patch introduces weapon dual-wielding, a feature many players have asked for. Those who unlock the Double Trouble perk in the Cool skill tree can carry two Power pistols or revolvers at the same time, supported by four new combat perks. Cyberware customisation also expands, with five new Glamdoc shops across the map that sell cosmetic skins for arm hardware such as Mantis Blades and Gorilla Arms.

Mod support and new story content in the update

The update adds cross-platform mod support through mod.io. Players on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S can browse and install community mods directly from the game menu. Console players were warned that loading a modded save will disable achievements and trophies.

Two new story experiences are included. The side quest Clampdown works as a prequel to the anime and rewards players with a five-piece gear set inspired by King. A second mission, Welcome to Paradise, offers a guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night. Players can also find 12 new Minor Arcana tarot cards, along with new clothing, hairstyles and a radio station playing music from the show.

Graphics, performance and launch timing

Update 2.5 adds support for Nvidia DLSS 4.5, which offers up to 6X Multi Frame Generation. AMD FSR options have been simplified: FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain, while older versions are removed. Console players gain an FOV slider, improved HDR, ray tracing refinements and performance boosts on the PS5 Pro. Compatible Samsung Odyssey displays also receive glasses-free 3D support.

The patch includes quality-of-life changes such as save grouping by playthrough, stash filters and new Photo Mode tools. It launches on October 22 for PC, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Releases for Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store will follow shortly after.
