Indian police say Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff came through a shooting in Mumbai without any gunshot injuries. Officers are still investigating the incident, which happened on Sunday evening.
The 36-year-old was in a car leaving a football club in Juhu, a suburb of the city, when shots were fired. A video circulated by several news outlets appears to show at least two gunmen firing repeatedly at close range toward the front passenger seat as the vehicle moved slowly past a crowd.
Injuries and reaction after the Juhu attack
Police said two people were hurt, including Shroff’s driver, local media reported. Eknath Shinde, deputy chief minister of Maharashtra state, where Mumbai is located, visited the actor after the shooting.
Shinde said Shroff and his mother had been left “shaken” by the attack. He also vowed that such attempts to intimidate people would not be tolerated.
Growing worries over attacks on public figures
The incident has raised concern about the safety of public figures in India, some of whom have been killed or injured in targeted attacks in recent years. It is the latest in a string of attacks on some of the country’s best-known personalities.
In 2024, police arrested two members of a criminal gang over a gun attack on the home of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The same year, influential politician Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai.
Shroff’s acting career and football interests
The son of two actors, Shroff made his acting debut in 2014 in the romance film Heropanti and went on to star in several films. He is also a football enthusiast who plays for the professional club Mumbay FC.
