Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Eskandar Momeni, on Wednesday, reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to fostering lasting peace in the Middle East. The discussions focused on strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations and addressing the evolving regional dynamics following the recent peace agreement.

Naqvi extended congratulations to Momeni on the joint declaration signed at Burgenstock, Switzerland, emphasizing that the agreement was a result of the Iranian government’s sincere efforts and the commitment of its negotiating team. He highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding advocacy for global peace and stability, expressing optimism that the accord would bring significant positive impacts throughout the region.

In response, Momeni expressed appreciation for the warm reception given to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his delegation during their visit to Pakistan. Notably, Momeni was part of the delegation accompanying President Pezeshkian, who visited Pakistan shortly after the US and Iran signed the ‘Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding’ aimed at resolving the Middle East conflict.

Momeni also commended Pakistan’s earnest role in facilitating the Iran-US negotiations and praised the Pakistani public for their unwavering support throughout the process. Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the recent de-escalation of tensions in the region and agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in key areas such as security, counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, and immigration management.

In a significant development, Momeni announced plans for an upcoming comprehensive visit to Pakistan to further enhance collaboration between the interior ministries of both nations. The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Secretary Interior, Additional Secretary Interior, Director General FIA, Commandant of the National Police Academy, and Director General NCCIA.
