A stampede at the mehndi ceremony of TikToker Mr Patlu in Sialkot has reached the Punjab Assembly after an opposition member submitted a Calling Attention Notice on the incident. One person was killed and 18 others were injured in the stampede at a stadium on Daska Road.

Opposition Member of Provincial Assembly Nadeem Qureshi submitted the notice. A case over the stampede has been registered at the Motra Police Station in Sialkot.

Questions raised over permissions and safety at the event

The notice asks whether the local administration granted formal permission for the large gathering at the Sialkot Daska Stadium. Qureshi also asked about the security arrangements and Standard Operating Procedures put in place for the ceremony.

He further asked how many arrests had been made after the tragedy. The MPA demanded that police present a detailed investigation report and brief the assembly on the actions taken so far.

Mr Patlu’s video seeking justice after the tragedy

Earlier, Mr Patlu posted a video on his TikTok account asking for justice. In it, he questioned what his fault was, saying he had obtained proper NOC and permission before the event, yet an accident had happened among the public.

He said that if his relatives lodged an FIR against him, he would surrender himself. Breaking into tears, he also said he was unable to walk.

Large crowd and chaos at the venue gates

According to reports, a large crowd had gathered outside the venue ahead of a prize draw scheduled during the event. The situation turned chaotic as soon as the gates opened, triggering the stampede that left several people injured.

Reports also said thousands of people had travelled from distant areas to attend the mehndi ceremony.
