Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated on Tuesday that empowering women remains a central focus of his administration. He emphasized that the federal budget includes initiatives aimed at expanding educational and economic opportunities for women across the country.

These comments were made during a meeting with women parliamentarians from the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), where budget proposals were discussed alongside challenges faced by their constituencies. The prime minister expressed appreciation for the lawmakers’ active engagement in the budget session and commended the economic team for integrating policies that promote gender equality.

Addressing the gathering, Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of involving women in national development, stating that sustainable progress is unattainable without their full participation in all sectors. He highlighted that the budget contains specific measures to boost women’s economic involvement and improve access to education.

The women parliamentarians also put forward recommendations related to development projects and public welfare schemes tailored to their constituencies’ needs.

In a significant development, the prime minister touched upon regional dynamics, noting that tensions had eased and peace efforts were beginning to bear fruit. He expressed gratitude to allied nations supporting peace initiatives and acknowledged the diplomatic contributions of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Shehbaz Sharif underscored that enduring peace in the region is crucial for Pakistan’s economic goals, as stability will ultimately lead to improved economic conditions for the population.

He further stated that the government aimed to provide maximum relief to citizens through the budget, striving to protect them from the impact of global inflation. The prime minister also noted that the sacrifices demanded of the public must be matched by leadership, highlighting austerity measures adopted by the federal cabinet and government institutions during recent challenges.
