The Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) has introduced an advance appointment system for its Outdoor Patient Department (OPD), the RIC administration said. Separate clinics for patients without appointments will also keep operating.
Officials said emergency care for heart patients will remain available 24 hours a day. During the initial phase, the walk-in clinics will stay functional, while bypass and angioplasty patients will book follow-up visits in advance.
Aim to cut waiting times and queues
The administration said the change is meant to prevent long waiting times and crowded queues. It also said no patient will be turned away without a check-up, and that patients travelling from far away will be offered better medical facilities.
A complaint center has also been set up at the institute to handle public grievances.
