The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has fixed a hearing on November 5 for a petition seeking permission to visit the PTI founder in jail. The petition is listed for Thursday, subject to objections raised by the high court’s registrar office.

The petition was filed by members of the national dialogue committee, including Fawad Chaudhry, Imran Ismail, Mahmood Moulvi and Barrister Saif. It names the interior secretary, the Punjab home department secretary and the superintendent of Adiala Jail as respondents.

Petitioners cite health concerns and jail visit ban

The petitioners said they were friends of the PTI founder and were concerned about his health. They said visits had not been allowed for several months, and that the ban was fuelling rumours on social media.

The petition also said the ban had caused concern among the general public. It argued that the ban violates Articles 9 and 14 and breaches jail rules, and that it goes against the Nelson Mandela rules of the United Nations.

Petitioners seek order under Pakistan Prison Rules

The petitioners asked the court to allow a meeting with the PTI founder under the Pakistan Prison Rules. They want the court to direct the jail superintendent to arrange the visit.
