Pakistan Facilitates Repatriation of 30 Iranian Nationals via Karachi

Pakistan has successfully arranged the repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals, a move Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar described as a result of “genuine humanitarian efforts.” The individuals are scheduled to travel onward through Karachi in the coming days, underscoring Pakistan’s dedication to humanitarian values and regional collaboration in maritime emergencies.

Among those being repatriated are eight Iranian fishermen whose vessel had drifted off course in open waters. They were rescued by a British ship named MMA Valour. Following their rescue, the fishermen were processed through appropriate channels to ensure their safe return, with officials confirming that they received all necessary assistance in accordance with maritime humanitarian protocols.

In a related development, 22 Iranian crew members from the vessel Lenore are also being repatriated. These crew members had previously been detained by authorities in the United States while in regional waters. Arrangements have now been finalized for their return via Pakistan, with Karachi serving as the transit point.

Local authorities in Karachi have completed all logistical preparations for receiving the group, including consular support and basic medical screening prior to their onward journey to Iran. Foreign Minister Dar emphasized that Pakistan remains steadfast in providing humanitarian aid to those in distress at sea, regardless of nationality, and will continue to support coordinated regional responses to maritime incidents.
