CTD Detains Two SRA Militants Linked to Karachi Attack on Chinese Nationals

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has successfully apprehended two militants affiliated with the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) who were involved in a violent attack targeting Chinese nationals in Karachi. This operation reflects intensified efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb terrorism and protect foreign nationals residing in Pakistan’s largest city. The SRA is known for its separatist agenda and has been linked to various violent incidents in the Sindh region.

In a significant development, the arrests come amid growing concerns over the safety of Chinese expatriates, especially given the strategic importance of China-Pakistan relations and ongoing projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Ensuring the security of foreign workers is crucial to maintaining bilateral cooperation and investment confidence. The CTD’s swift action demonstrates the government’s commitment to counterterrorism and safeguarding international partnerships.

Meanwhile, this crackdown on SRA operatives is expected to disrupt the group’s operational capabilities and send a strong message against militancy in Karachi. The incident underscores the persistent threat posed by separatist and extremist factions in urban centers, necessitating continuous vigilance. Authorities are likely to enhance intelligence-sharing and community engagement to prevent future attacks and promote stability in the region.
