The Federal Constitutional Court on Thursday ordered PIA to submit its reply on the medical facility for retired employees of the airline. A division bench headed by Justice Hassan Rizvi heard the case.
Court urges PIA not to discard former staff
Justice Rizvi said the institution should care about the past services of its retired employees. “The old employees have served the airline in their best time of age,” he observed, adding that PIA should not discard them in this manner.
Court warns against misuse of medical facility
The judge said misuse of the facility had damaged institutions and that those involved in fraud should be treated strictly. He recalled that in the past, people had purchased perfumes in the name of the medical facility.
A PIA lawyer told the court that the facility had been reviewed and formally streamlined. According to the lawyer, the annual amount was earlier 2.5 lakh and has since been raised to Rs 5 lakh. The court asked PIA to try resolving the issue on humanitarian grounds.
