Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been docked 20 per cent of his one-day international match fee after an on-field confrontation during the tri-series match against England in Lahore on Sunday. The ICC ruled that Rauf had acted in a way that runs against the spirit of cricket, and it added one demerit point to his record.

The incident came at the end of Pakistan’s 46th over. Rauf, batting at the non-striker’s end, appealed for a wide and then exchanged words with England all-rounder Will Jacks. Umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid warned him, but Rauf kept arguing, raising his bat as he brushed past the official and moved toward Jacks.

Third offence in 24 months lifts demerit tally

According to his disciplinary record, this was Rauf’s third offence within a 24-month period, taking his total to five demerit points. The previous four points were awarded for two separate incidents involving India during the 2025 Asia Cup, with two points imposed on September 14 and two more on September 28.

England were also sanctioned, receiving a 15 per cent cut of their match fee for bowling their overs three short of the required minimum, after time allowances were taken into account. Under the ICC code covering players and player support personnel, teams lose five per cent of their players’ fees for each over they fail to bowl in the allotted time.

Both Rauf and England captain Harry Brook admitted their offences and accepted the proposed sanctions from Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so no formal hearings were required. The charges were brought by on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Sharfuddoula, third umpire Wayne Knights and fourth umpire Nassir Hussain.
