Khawaja Asif Warns India Against Future Miscalculations After 2025 Conflict

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif issued a stern warning to India on Wednesday, stating that any future “miscalculation” by the neighbouring country would provoke a “more intense and decisive” reaction from Pakistan. This statement accompanied the release of a video commemorating the 2025 military clash known as “Marka-i-Haq” (Battle of Truth) between the two nuclear-armed nations.

Asif emphasized that “Marka-i-Haq” was not just a historical event but represented a permanent shift in Pakistan’s defensive stance following the conflict. He noted that while Pakistan had shown restraint during the last confrontation, any future provocations would trigger a response that would go beyond previous limits.

Highlighting Pakistan’s position, the defence minister asserted that the country does not seek conflict but will never compromise on its sovereignty, dignity, or security. He remarked, “Peace without dignity is not peace but surrender, and that is unacceptable to us.”

The confrontation began after the April 22, 2025 attack in Pahalgam and concluded with a ceasefire on May 10, following Pakistan’s military operation “Bunyanum Marsoos.” This episode marked one of the most serious escalations between the two countries in recent years.

Asif stated that the conflict had dispelled the notion that Pakistan could be pressured or isolated. He underscored that Pakistan’s military capabilities across land, air, and sea were now faster and more effective than India anticipated. “Our armed forces are fully prepared to meet the demands of modern warfare,” he declared. “Whatever your plans may be, we are ahead of what you think.”

In a significant development, Asif also credited Pakistan’s national unity as a decisive factor during the conflict, likening the country’s resolve to “Bunyanum Marsoos,” a fortified wall standing firm alongside its armed forces.

Addressing India directly, he cautioned against engaging in “false flag operations” or repeating past miscalculations, warning that such actions would come at a much higher cost. “The message is clear — do not let internal politics and hatred spill over,” he said. “If it does, be prepared for a response that will not remain under your control.”

Asif further highlighted the confidence and awareness of Pakistan’s youth as a vital national asset, describing it as a source of strength for the country’s future. “The younger generation understands what happened and stands united,” he said. “This awareness and determination are our real strength.”

Meanwhile, young Pakistanis reflected on the conflict as a defining moment for the nation. They praised the success of the military operation for bolstering national confidence and unity, stating the episode would be remembered as a historic chapter. They emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces had effectively countered aggression and showcased the country’s defensive capabilities.
