Pakistan and China have formalized a joint venture agreement along with two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) that focus on construction machinery, animal health, and medical technology. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of President Asif Ali Zardari, underscoring the commitment to deepen practical cooperation in these vital sectors.

This event took place during President Zardari’s five-day trip to China, which began on April 26 and emphasized enhancing economic and trade relations, especially through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The agreements are part of broader efforts to strengthen bilateral ties in line with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

One MoU was signed by Al Hassan Trade Establishment, Sany International Development, and Hainan Jiaolong International Technology, focusing on collaboration in high-end equipment, manufacturing, and construction machinery. This partnership aims to support CPEC-related activities by ensuring the supply of comprehensive construction machinery and equipment, establishing a professional talent training system, and offering after-sales operation and maintenance services. Additionally, the parties plan to explore investments in manufacturing facilities within Pakistan to promote localized production of construction machinery.

Another MoU was finalized involving Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Vice President of Sany Group Li Qin, and Chairman of Hainan Jiaolong International Trade Company Hao Jiaolong, further reinforcing industrial cooperation.

In a significant development, a Joint Venture Agreement was signed between the Livestock & Fisheries Department of the Government of Sindh and China’s Luoyang Modern Biology Group. This agreement focuses on the distribution and supply of animal vaccines in Pakistan, including vaccines for Foot-and-Mouth Disease. It also provides for technology exchange and future collaboration on implementing track and traceability systems for livestock in Pakistan. The agreement was signed by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Luoyang Modern Biology Group Chairman Wang Shanpu.

During the ceremony, a documentary was screened that celebrated the 75-year-long friendship between Pakistan and China, highlighting the enduring strategic and cultural bonds between the two nations.

A day prior to the signing, President Zardari attended the commissioning of Pakistan Navy’s first Hangor-class submarine (PNS/M Hangor) in Sanya, equipped with advanced weaponry. Throughout his visit, the president engaged with provincial leaders and reviewed the comprehensive scope of Pakistan-China relations, with a particular focus on economic cooperation and CPEC projects.

This visit is part of a longstanding tradition of high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China and holds special importance as both countries commemorate their 75th year of diplomatic ties. It reflects the mutual determination to further enhance their strategic cooperative partnership.
