ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi conducted an inspection of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) headquarters on Friday to assess the progress of the ongoing modernization project. He instructed officials to ensure the project is completed promptly without compromising quality.

During the visit, FIA Director General Usman Anwar provided a comprehensive briefing on the scope and current status of the upgrade, highlighting efforts to enhance the agency’s infrastructure and operational capabilities.

Naqvi emphasized that these reforms are part of a larger strategy aimed at transforming the FIA into a more efficient and citizen-friendly institution. He expressed the government’s goal to fully modernize the agency by the end of this year.

In a significant development, the interior minister pointed out that upgrades are being implemented across multiple domains, including infrastructure, technology, and human resource development, to boost the FIA’s overall effectiveness.

He reiterated that enhancing operational efficiency and improving public service delivery are top priorities. The ongoing reforms are expected to strengthen the agency’s capacity to combat crime and protect national interests more effectively.

Officials noted that the modernization project is designed to equip the FIA with advanced tools and systems, enabling it to better address emerging challenges, particularly in cybercrime and financial investigations.

Meanwhile, Naqvi stressed the critical importance of transparency in recruitment processes. He directed authorities to ensure that all new appointments are made strictly on merit to uphold the institution’s integrity and professionalism.

The visit included senior officials such as the Islamabad chief commissioner and the inspector general of Islamabad police, along with other high-ranking personnel.
