Karachi Police Mobilize Over 12,000 Officers for Eid Ul Fitr 2026 Security Measures

In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations in 2026, the Karachi Police have put together an extensive and detailed security strategy aimed at safeguarding the entire city. This initiative is part of a broader effort to guarantee the safety and well-being of residents and visitors during one of the most significant religious festivals observed across Pakistan. The plan was finalized under the guidance of Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi, Azad Khan, reflecting the department’s commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the metropolitan area.

As part of the security arrangements, a total of 12,145 police officers and personnel have been strategically deployed across Karachi’s various zones to ensure comprehensive coverage. The distribution of forces includes 4,302 officers assigned to the South Zone, 3,813 deployed in the East Zone, and 4,030 positioned within the West Zone. This zonal allocation is designed to maximize the effectiveness of the police presence, allowing for rapid response and efficient management of any incidents that may arise during the festivities.

In addition to the zone-based deployments, extra personnel will be stationed at key religious sites, including major Eidgahs, large mosques, and Imam Bargahs, where large congregations are expected. These locations often attract thousands of worshippers, making them critical points for security vigilance. To further enhance safety, the police have intensified surveillance efforts by increasing mobile patrols, conducting snap checks, and augmenting street-level deployments. This proactive approach aims to deter criminal activity and swiftly address any security threats.

Moreover, law enforcement agencies are maintaining strict oversight at all principal entry and exit points of Karachi. Officers have been instructed to stay vigilant for any suspicious behavior or objects, ensuring that potential risks are identified and neutralized promptly. This heightened alertness is crucial in preventing any untoward incidents and maintaining public confidence in the security apparatus during the festival period.

Alongside security measures, a well-coordinated traffic management plan has been implemented to facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians, especially around areas hosting Eid prayers. This plan aims to minimize congestion and provide ease of access for citizens attending religious gatherings, thereby contributing to a peaceful and orderly celebration. Authorities are working closely with traffic police to monitor and manage flow effectively throughout the day.

Finally, the police have called upon the public to cooperate fully with security personnel by remaining alert and reporting any suspicious activity immediately. Citizens are encouraged to contact their nearest police station or dial helpline 15 without delay if they notice anything unusual. This partnership between law enforcement and the community is essential to ensuring a safe and peaceful Eid for everyone in Karachi.
