A judicial magistrate in Karachi on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Iqrarul Hassan, chief of the Awam Raj Tehreek, in a case over alleged spreading of anti-state content on social media.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registered Case No. 101/2026 against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). Speaking outside the court, his lawyer said the defence would move the Sindh High Court to suspend the order once the detailed judgment is received.
Remand history and transfer to jail
On October 19, the magistrate sent Hassan to jail on judicial remand, turning down the NCCIA’s request for further physical remand. The agency had produced him in court and sought physical remand over allegations that he posted anti-state material online.
