Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Senator Kamran Murtaza has filed a calling attention notice asking the Senate to hold a debate on suspects who are killed in police encounters after being arrested.
In the notice, Murtaza pointed to the Laiba suicide case and an incident in Bahawalpur, saying that suspects in both cases had been killed in police encounters.
He described the deaths of suspects in police custody during such encounters as clear proof of weak administration.
The notice also raised alleged corruption and mismanagement within the police force, and said the public has little trust in the department.
It urges the Senate to discuss police reforms and the killing of suspects in encounters.
