The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has officially revealed the names of the young athletes chosen to represent the country at the forthcoming Asia Regional Qualifying Event, as well as the Asia Under-12 Team Competition. These prestigious tournaments are scheduled to be held from April 11 to April 18, 2026, in Kathmandu, Nepal, bringing together some of the most promising junior tennis talent from across the continent.

The selection process for these squads was rigorous and highly competitive. Over the course of three days, from March 9 to March 11, trials were conducted at the Pakistan Tennis Federation Tennis Complex located in Islamabad. These trials were designed to assess the skills, fitness, and competitive readiness of the participants. A total of eight boys and five girls, all chosen based on their national rankings and recent performances in domestic competitions, were invited to showcase their abilities during this evaluation period.

After careful consideration and detailed assessment by the selection committee, the boys’ team was finalized with Muhammad Ayan, Muhammad Faizan, and Mustafa Uzair Rana earning their spots through consistent performance and potential. Additionally, M. Ibrahim Hussain Gill has been named as the reserve player, ready to step in if needed. On the girls’ side, the squad includes Shehnur Umar, Shehrin Umar, and Wajeeha Fatima, with Dua Yousaf Qureshi designated as the reserve player, highlighting the depth of emerging talent in Pakistan’s junior tennis circuit.

The leadership of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, including both the President and the Secretary General, extended their congratulations to all the selected players. They expressed optimism that these young athletes will not only perform admirably at the regional event but also continue to develop their skills and bring further accolades to Pakistan in the years ahead. Their encouragement reflects the federation’s commitment to nurturing future tennis stars and elevating the sport’s profile nationally.

It is worth noting that participation in such regional competitions provides invaluable experience for young players, exposing them to international standards and diverse playing styles. This exposure is crucial for their growth and helps build a strong foundation for Pakistan’s tennis ambitions on the global stage. The upcoming event in Kathmandu is expected to be a significant milestone for these players as they compete against their peers from across Asia.

With the squads now finalized and preparations underway, the Pakistan Tennis Federation is focused on ensuring that the teams receive the necessary support and training to excel. The federation’s efforts underscore a broader strategy aimed at reviving and strengthening tennis in Pakistan, particularly at the grassroots and junior levels, to produce world-class athletes in the future.
