In a solemn message that resonated across diplomatic circles, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif extended his heartfelt condolences to the Iranian government and its people following the tragic martyrdom of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The devastating incident, resulting from US-Israeli military strikes, has sent shockwaves through the region, marking a profoundly sorrowful chapter in Iran’s contemporary history.

Sharing his reflections on the social media platform X, Nawaz Sharif described the loss of Ayatollah Khamenei as not only a significant historical event but also a deeply painful tragedy that carries far-reaching emotional and political consequences. He emphasized that this moment of grief transcends national boundaries, affecting the broader regional landscape and underscoring the fragility of peace in the Middle East.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Nawaz Sharif expressed unwavering solidarity with the Iranian nation, standing firmly alongside them as they navigate through this period of mourning. He acknowledged the immense challenges that lie ahead for Iran, both in terms of internal stability and its relations with neighboring countries, especially given the heightened tensions following the US-Israeli strikes.

Adding to the sorrow, reports have emerged that Ayatollah Khamenei’s wife succumbed to injuries sustained during the same attacks, further deepening the tragedy for the Iranian leadership and its people. This development has intensified calls for restraint and dialogue among regional powers to prevent further escalation of conflict.

In his statement, Nawaz Sharif underscored the critical importance of fostering peace and stability not only within the Middle East but across the globe. He prayed for divine strength to be bestowed upon the Iranian people, hoping they find resilience in the face of this irreparable loss. His message reflected a broader desire for de-escalation and the pursuit of diplomatic solutions to ongoing regional disputes.

This expression of sympathy from a prominent Pakistani political leader also highlights the close historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Iran. Both nations have often emphasized the need for cooperation and mutual respect in addressing shared challenges, especially in times of crisis. Nawaz Sharif’s condolences serve as a reminder of the interconnectedness of regional security and the human cost of conflict.
