A fresh weather system is set to enter Pakistan today, ushering in widespread rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall across various regions, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has announced.
The Met Office indicated that a westerly wave will advance into the northern parts of the country, elevating the chances of thunderstorms in several cities within the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, higher altitude areas are expected to witness new snowfall. Officials have cautioned that intermittent heavy rainfall may persist until April 17.
Cloud cover is anticipated today over northern districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, and Abbottabad, with rain likely to follow. By tomorrow, the system is predicted to extend rainfall to major urban centers such as Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Sialkot.
In a significant development, snowfall is also forecasted in the upper mountainous regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and stay informed about weather updates, as heavy downpours and storms could disrupt travel and daily routines in the affected areas over the coming days.
