A third cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar has reached Port Qasim in Karachi, offering a possible short-term lift to Pakistan’s under-pressure gas network, a spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said the carrier Shandong Redwood had moored at the Engro LNG terminal within the port. Shipments from Qatar have continued even as tensions rise in the Strait of Hormuz, a major passage for global energy supplies.
Three Qatari cargoes arrive this month
Three LNG cargoes from Qatar have landed in Pakistan during October. The first, the Al Arish, docked on 13 October 2026, and the Aegean followed on 21 October. The Shandong Redwood is the most recent delivery.

The gas will be transferred to a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) before entering the national grid. Separately, the Yellowstone brought 4,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Bahrain to Port Qasim on 24 October 2026.
Pricing tied to Brent and OGRA rate rise
The price of Qatari LNG is linked to Brent crude, set at 13.37 per cent of its value. Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) increased LNG prices for October amid a domestic shortage of the fuel.
Energy experts say the continued arrival of Qatari shipments could bring temporary relief to the gas system and help ease the expected shortfall.
