Iran’s supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei met top military commanders on Saturday and ordered them to meet any US or Israeli attack with a “geographically unrestricted response,” according to a written statement. The statement was published on his website and said any level or type of threat must be met with an immediate and impactful reply.

The warning came as speculation grows that the Middle East war will resume. Khamenei’s remarks were made as concern rises over possible new fighting.

Khamenei warns Washington against renewed attacks

In a statement attributed to Khamenei and posted on his Telegram channel, he said that if enemies again launch military or terrorist attacks, Iran’s armed forces and nation would decide when and how those attacks end. The message was aimed at the United States, which he warned against launching fresh strikes.

Iran’s army also said on Saturday that any new US attack would only spread the war more widely. The warning followed threats by America and Israel of further military action while both countries hold crucial elections.

Army and foreign minister add to warnings

Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said in a post on X, without elaborating, that if the US president again pursued regional adventurism under pressure from the Zionists, the flames of war would engulf a much wider area. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also said Iran’s armed forces would deal with those who dare harm its people.

Mediators and letter push for talks

Diplomatic efforts are underway to avert a return to fighting. A Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran on Friday for talks with senior Iranian officials. Qatar and Pakistan have been mediating between the warring parties, but no lasting agreement has yet been reached.

Reports said US Vice President JD Vance sent a letter to Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei at the direction of President Donald Trump, aimed at reviving negotiations and averting further US strikes. Iran has confirmed receiving the letter but has not announced a response.
