Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has presented a new set of cabin crew uniforms created by fashion designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, who is widely known as HSY. The collection was shown in Lahore on Thursday, 22 October 2026.

The uniforms are scheduled to be worn for the first time on 31 October 2026, on the airline’s first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner service from London to Islamabad. Yasin was chosen after a contest in Karachi, where 10 prominent Pakistani designers pitched their concepts to a jury of fashion figures and industry representatives.

Comfort and cultural detail in the new design

According to PIA, the range is guided by a “lifestyle first” philosophy and is intended to hold up on long-haul flights while allowing easy movement. The garments pair soft, breathable textiles with structured cuts.

Colours and detailing are drawn from Pakistan’s cultural craftsmanship. The launch is part of a broader overhaul of the airline under its new consortium-led management, with the aim of giving the carrier a modern image that still reflects Pakistani culture and hospitality.

In a statement shared by PIA, Yasin said: “Designing for our national flag carrier is about capturing our collective pride and the genuine warmth of Pakistani hospitality.”

Earlier uniforms by renowned international and local designers

PIA has a long record of working with well-known designers. French designer Pierre Cardin created the airline’s A-line tunic and hood in 1966, and British designer Sir Hardy Amies, who was royal couturier to Queen Elizabeth II, lent his tailoring skills in the 1970s.

More recently, a uniform inspired by Pakistani designer Nomi Ansari stayed in service for 12 years. PIA said passengers will not have to wait long to see the new designs in action, as the collection is set to debut later this month.
