Liquefied petroleum gas prices in Pakistan are expected to fall by up to Rs50 within one to two days, LPG Standing Committee Convener Ali Haider has said. The decrease follows permission for Iranian LPG tankers loaded by October 16 to enter the country.
Haider said the arrival of around 900 tankers would improve LPG supplies across the country. He expected prices to begin falling within the next 24 hours.
Criticism of OGRA’s monthly LPG pricing formula
Haider criticised the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (OGRA) formula for determining LPG prices. He argued that prices should be set weekly rather than monthly.

October LPG imports and daily demand figures
According to Haider, Pakistan imported five LPG cargo ships in October, bringing total imports to 22,000 tonnes for the month. National daily demand stands at 12,000 to 13,000 tonnes, while Karachi needs 4,000 to 5,000 tonnes each day.
In Karachi, he added, 40 per cent of total LPG consumption is commercial and 30 per cent is used by industry.
