The ICC has pinned down dates for a number of key global fixtures, among them the 2028 T20 World Cup and the 2029 World Test Championship final. The schedule was circulated to member boards as part of an updated global events calendar, following meetings held in Dubai earlier this month.
The calendar also covers a busy period of international cricket between the 2027 and 2031 ODI World Cups.
Pakistan to host women’s event from September 7
Pakistan will stage the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028 between September 7 and October 1, with 12 teams competing for the title. The women’s competition will be followed by the men’s edition, which Australia and New Zealand will host jointly from October 12 to November 12.
The two tournaments sit in back-to-back windows, leaving only 11 days between the end of the women’s event and the start of the men’s. Unlike the women’s field, the men’s tournament will include 20 teams, keeping the expanded format used in the global competition.
2029 WTC final set for England in June
The ICC has also confirmed that the 2029 World Test Championship final will be played in England from June 8 to 12. The one-off match will decide the winner of the 2027-29 WTC cycle, with the two leading teams in the standings qualifying for the final.
Men’s T20 World Cup 2030 moved to July and August
The ICC has revised the window for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2030, which had initially been expected in June, shifting it to July and August. England, Ireland and Scotland will jointly host the 20-team event, having previously been granted the hosting rights by the ICC.
