Pakistan Views US-Iran Peace Deal as Chance to Advance Yemen Peace Efforts

Pakistan has expressed optimism regarding the recent peace agreement between the United States and Iran, viewing it as a potential catalyst for advancing peace negotiations in Yemen. The conflict in Yemen, which has caused a severe humanitarian crisis since 2014, involves multiple regional actors and has drawn international concern. Pakistan’s stance highlights its interest in promoting stability in the Middle East, given the broader implications of the Yemen conflict on regional security.

In a significant development, the US-Iran rapprochement could open new diplomatic channels that might ease tensions and encourage dialogue among Yemen’s warring factions. Pakistan’s recognition of this opportunity underscores its commitment to supporting peaceful resolutions in conflict zones beyond its immediate neighborhood. The move also aligns with global efforts to end hostilities and address the dire humanitarian situation affecting millions in Yemen.

Meanwhile, the Yemen peace process remains complex, with various stakeholders involved, including the Saudi-led coalition and Houthi rebels. Pakistan’s positive outlook on the US-Iran deal reflects hopes that reduced regional rivalries could pave the way for renewed negotiations. If successful, this could mark a turning point in ending one of the world’s most protracted and devastating conflicts.
