Shafquat Wadho Appointed as Member of IRSA Sindh by Government

The government has officially appointed Shafquat Wadho as the Member of the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) for Sindh. This position is critical in overseeing the distribution and management of water resources among provinces, ensuring equitable water sharing as per legal frameworks. IRSA plays a vital role in managing Pakistan’s water supply, which is essential for agriculture, industry, and domestic use, particularly in water-scarce regions like Sindh.

Shafquat Wadho’s appointment comes at a time when water management challenges are intensifying due to climate change and increasing demand. His role will involve coordinating with other provincial representatives and federal authorities to address water disputes and promote sustainable usage. Effective management by IRSA is crucial for maintaining harmony between provinces and supporting Pakistan’s agricultural economy.

In a significant development for Sindh, Wadho’s membership in IRSA is expected to strengthen the province’s voice in water resource decisions. This appointment highlights the government’s focus on addressing water distribution issues, which have long been a source of inter-provincial tension. Moving forward, Wadho’s contributions could impact water policy reforms and help mitigate the risks of water shortages in Sindh and beyond.
