Islamabad’s civic administration is undergoing a significant digital overhaul as the government commits to digitising all records of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) within the next 120 days. This initiative was confirmed during a high-level meeting led by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where various development projects in the capital were evaluated.

The minister highlighted that the digitisation process will enable citizens to monitor the real-time progress of their applications, enhancing transparency and streamlining public service delivery. In a decisive move, Naqvi also ordered a strict ban on illegal housing societies in Islamabad, signaling a firm stance against unauthorized urban expansion.

Officials were directed to expedite the pre-qualification of three international firms responsible for constructing major infrastructure projects, including a new Convention Center, Expo Center, and Islamabad Arena. These developments are slated for completion ahead of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, underscoring efforts to prepare the capital for significant international events.

Additionally, the meeting approved land allocation for a new service center in Sector F-6 and discussed plans to enhance recreational facilities. Proposed attractions include Top Golf, hot air balloon rides, zip lines, water parks, and amusement venues, aiming to boost leisure options for residents and visitors alike.

Minister Naqvi emphasized the need to advance sports infrastructure by instructing officials to develop state-of-the-art sports complexes. He also called for a comprehensive plan to create recreational spaces around Shahdara Dam, reflecting a broader vision to promote sports and outdoor activities in the capital.
