Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has committed to completing the reconstruction of Karachi’s University Road within 90 days, addressing public dissatisfaction caused by extended delays related to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Red Line project.

During a recent inspection of the site, the chief minister expressed regret for the inconvenience faced by commuters due to the deteriorating condition of one of the city’s busiest roads. He assured that the road’s rehabilitation would be carried out as a distinct initiative, fully financed by the provincial government.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab confirmed that this decision came in response to numerous complaints from the public. The reconstruction will cover the stretch between Safoora Chowrangi and Numaish, incorporating not only road rebuilding but also enhancements to the drainage system to facilitate smoother traffic flow while the BRT corridor work continues.

In a significant development, the chief minister revealed that work on the stalled Red Line project is expected to recommence shortly. He mentioned that the contract for a critical segment will be reissued due to performance concerns. Furthermore, he emphasized the government’s dedication to completing the project on time, even if construction activities extend into public holidays.
