Throughout the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH, Saudi Arabia undertook a monumental effort to provide iftar meals to millions of fasting worshippers at Islam’s two most sacred sites—the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. This massive distribution campaign saw over 33.8 million meals served, reflecting the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to supporting pilgrims and visitors during this spiritually significant period.

The operation was meticulously coordinated by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, which implemented a highly efficient and well-structured system to manage the distribution process. This ensured that those observing the fast received their meals promptly and in an orderly fashion, even amid the large crowds that gather daily at these revered locations.

To maintain smooth operations, specific zones within the mosques were designated exclusively for iftar distribution. These areas were carefully managed to uphold strict health and safety standards, guaranteeing that food was served hygienically without causing any disruption to the flow of worshippers. Special emphasis was placed on the critical moments just before the Maghrib prayer, when the influx of people breaking their fast reaches its peak.

Volunteers and staff worked in close coordination to handle the heavy rush, employing crowd control measures and logistical planning to facilitate timely and organized meal delivery. Their efforts ensured that the distribution process remained seamless despite the immense volume of recipients, highlighting the Kingdom’s expertise in managing large-scale public services during major religious events.

This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 framework, which aims to enhance public services, boost religious tourism, and create a safe, well-organized, and spiritually fulfilling environment for pilgrims from around the globe. By successfully serving millions of iftar meals, the Kingdom not only demonstrated operational excellence but also reinforced its reputation for exceptional hospitality during Ramadan.

Overall, the distribution of over 33.8 million iftar meals at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque stands as a testament to Saudi Arabia’s dedication to facilitating worshippers’ spiritual journeys and ensuring their comfort during one of the most important months in the Islamic calendar.
