Police in Lahore arrested Ahmed Tanveer despite the approval of his interim bail, even as the foreign woman Diana sought the withdrawal of a rape case against him. In her first video statement, Diana declared Tanveer innocent, saying he neither raped her nor took her mobile phones.

In the video, she said Tanveer had no involvement in the alleged rape and claimed her earlier statements were given under pressure. She also declared him innocent in a document from the Azerbaijan embassy.

Diana’s return to Baku under police escort

Diana, a 22-year-old Azerbaijani woman identified as Diana Romik Qizi Baghiyeva, was sent back to Baku on October 4 along with three police officers. She departed on Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-159, accompanied by ASP Defence Bairah and DSP Qamar Abbas, among others.

Airport refusal and custody flight

According to reporter Babar Khan, the Azerbaijan embassy had requested police escorts for the journey. Diana remained under Airport Security Force supervision, and on Friday she completed immigration clearance and boarded the aircraft. She later got off and refused to travel, after which police accompanied her on the flight under their custody.
